The Bunner-Hearty Wedding, 15 October 2023

The primary reason we wintered this year in the DFW area was to attend the Jon Bunner and Katherine Hearty wedding. This wedding has been on hold nearly four years for a variety of reasons, not the least of which was the pandemic. Over that time, they’ve started their family and now have two precious boys, Logan and Max. The ceremony and events surrounding it were extremely well planned and the results were perfect according to us and the feedback we heard from many attendees. This blog mostly shares the pictures we felt best captured the highlights.

A month before the wedding, Sarah proposed our immediate family have breakfast together at a Dallas restaurant she picked. We all agreed this was a great idea. We hadn’t been together as a family for a very long time.

We hosted the rehearsal dinner, which turned into a welcome ice breaker for the wedding party and extended family on both sides. It was held at the Lakewood Brewery Company in Garland and included an excellent dinner catered by Smoke & Bones Barbecue with live music courtesy of Charity Eden. (Niece Vanessa expertly photobombed a number of pictures but check out number five below.)

Thanks to the persuasive power of Susie Bunner, all the Bunner brothers and their wives attended. The five of us hadn’t been together for a picture for a long while. We’re obviously older, have less hair on our heads, and different beards; but we’re all still reasonably healthy and enjoying retired life.

The wedding ceremony was held outdoors on the grounds between White Rock Lake and the historic Filter Building on White Rock Lake. Cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and music by a live stringed-group were provided before and after the nuptials. Dinner was served inside The Filter Building. The food was delicious, and a DJ filled the evening with music. Before dancing began, the maid of honor and best man gave incredibly funny, emotionally meaningful, and expertly delivered speeches about Kat, and Jon, respectively. We found their words to be very touching and moving.

We had charge of Sammy and Happy at our hotel room before and after the evening events. This made for some memorable pictures. Sammy was Katherine’s flower girl. Logan and Max were at all of the events, but weren’t as visible for pictures, so I included two taken recently during visits to their house. Didn’t want to leave them out.

Male member of the BunMack team. Happy to be Ms Fix It's lovely assistant on past and future projects. Maybe I'll learn some skills along the way. 69 years old when this adventure began, with expectations to help family and friends with their projects, see great sights along the way, and enjoy our life together.
