Max’s First Birthday

On the 1st of December we moved Arthur from Cook’s Lake to the Midway RV Park on the Naval Support Activity Mid-South base in Millington, TN. Midway was only 13 miles from Cook’s Lake, but the base park is significantly cheaper per month and provides facilities such as the Navy Exchange, Commissary, and Fitness Center. We intend on staying at Midway until departing in April for whatever adventures 2022 brings.

Our second out-of-area trip in Sid was back to Texas to celebrate Max’s first birthday, take care of some business at our storage unit, and work on projects for Jon and our niece Vanessa. Vanessa was kind enough to let us stay at her place for the week, and we’re grateful for her generosity.

Katherine had arranged a small gathering at her and Jon’s house, and we didn’t want to miss it. What fun! Kat cooked and piped her first cake, decorated the house for the party, and I just wandered around taking pictures and two videos. You can decide what the party theme was! We hadn’t seen Max and Logan since leaving Texas back in April 2021. Man-oh-man have those boys grown and matured.

We’d be disheartened if the Bunner-Hearty household didn’t have projects for us, but like the Gomez family, they didn’t disappoint either. Jon had constructed a coat rack, bench, and cubby unit for their entrance foyer. We filled the nail holes, caulked the joints, and primed it. The jury was still out on which of the four sample colors they’d pick. It should be painted by the time we return for their wedding in October.

MFI completed several smaller projects while I worked in the foyer. She reset two interior door strikes and fixed a loose bathroom door hook. Vanessa is very aware of our project skills too, so she had a list ready when we arrived. I finished painting the bottom of two of her upper kitchen cabinets and recaulked the joint between the cabinets and backsplash. We had left a spot on her dining room wall unfinished after completing the backsplash several visits ago, so we textured and repainted that. MFI worked her magic on Vanessa’s non-functioning garage door opener, installed a new light in her walk-in bedroom closet, added weights so the kitchen sink sprayer would retract after use, and reattached the toilet paper holder in the guest bathroom. Delana had a new bunkbed in her bedroom that made the ceiling fan blades dangerous for kids playing on the top bunk. MFI removed the fan blades. All little things but satisfying for us to be able to help again.

I’ll close this blog with some current pictures of the Richardson, TX Bunnerfamily.

Male member of the BunMack team. Happy to be Ms Fix It's lovely assistant on past and future projects. Maybe I'll learn some skills along the way. 69 years old when this adventure began, with expectations to help family and friends with their projects, see great sights along the way, and enjoy our life together.
