The backstory in summary. We were setting up our site at the Triple G Hideaway, Fort Nelson, BC, Canada on 15 June 2024. Our water heater had failed, and it was leaking badly. Couldn’t get it fixed or replaced locally, so MFI called Fraser RV, five stops ahead in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, and arranged for an appointment. Their replacement work was highly successful; however, they didn’t have the appropriate plumbing parts, and the result was a truly ingenious yet nonetheless “rube-goldberg” piping arrangement that unfortunately didn’t allow our bathroom cabinet door to fully close. But…they did get us us back on the road quickly, we lived with the door being ajar, and I knew MFI could eventually replumb the connections and have the door closing again.

Fast forward to Sep 2025. Over the ensuing 14 months, MFI cogitated over how to best replumb the connections, slowly assembled the parts she believed it would take, and waited for when there was sufficient time to do the work. She recently tackled the job and was finished in about half an hour. Would have been quicker, but one of the Home Depot elbow fittings leaked, because the manufacturer’s integral washer was missing for unknown reasons. Fortunately, she had more elbows with washers intact, and the final fix was completed in short order.

Not to take anything away from the fantastic support we experienced at Fraser RV, but sometimes it pays to have your own highly skilled mechanic onboard. She’s definitely my hero!
